Introduction to composting

Tairawhiti Environment Centre are hosting a composting workshop, where anyone can come and learn the basics of composting.

It is an hour long workshop on Sunday, August 9, starting at 10am.

Composting is a great way of turning kitchen scraps and garden waste into nutrients for soil.

Attendants can take home a free compost bin (one per family), provided by the GDC.

There is a $5 dollar charge to attend the workshop.

To register, message the Tairawhiti Environment Centre's Facebook page or call TEC on 06 867 4708.

A spot will be confirmed once payment has been received to account number 01-0641-0058800-000. Please email a screenshot of payment to tairawhitienvcentre@gmail.com or send via Facebook Messenger.

COMPOST skills: Those who attend the composting workshop get to take one of these compost bins, made from recycled plastic, home. GDC subsidies it to promote waste minimisation and divert green waste from landfills. Picture supplied
