Drain Art Competition
Artists who have an environmental slant could win $250 and have their art displayed on a drain.
The DrainWise Art Competition is to help raise awareness of stormwater pollution.
The winning artist will receive a $250 voucher, and their artwork painted on the stormwater grate on the corner of Lowe Street and Gladstone Road.
The design is to send a clear visual message to people passing a grate that anything that goes down a stormwater drain, goes straight into the region's rivers and sea as well.
Stormwater pollution includes litter, cigarette butts, chemicals and sediment from the roadside that go down the drain and straight into our rivers and sea, affecting the wildlife that lives in and around the water.
Anyone from Tairawhiti Gisborne can enter, and all ages are welcome.
