A RIVER RUNS THROUGH IT

A ribbon of foamy white streams from, or through, the mouth of the face stylised in the manner of a Maori carving in painter Dayna Chaffey’s work that won Miharo Gallery’s Wet Paint challenge on Friday.

The concept of the challenge is to create a work based on a given theme within one hour.

The inaugural Wet Paint challenge’s winner Francie Kemp set the theme of Six60’s song Rivers.

A $50 reserve was placed on all entries for the Wet Paint auction and Chaffey’s work was snapped up for $1000.

Miharo owners Hera Clifton, Rosie Cruddas and Ryan Symes have invited Chaffey to paint a solo show which will open on Friday August 7 at 6pm.
