Main street parade could be Gisborne’s biggest yet
TEN days out from Gisborne’s Christmas Parade and it is shaping up to be the biggest yet, says Heart of Gisborne city manager Ken Huberts.

“We have over 30 confirmed entries at this stage,” he says.

The parade is returning to the main street this year.

It will be held on Saturday, December 15, starting at 3pm.

“Because of the new route the main street will need to be free of parked vehicles,” he says.

Parade organisers will be giving out notices to everyone parking in Gladstone Road on the morning of the parade, insisting that all parks be vacated by 2pm.

“There will also be a road closure in place for the main street while the parade is on, along with the other streets involved,” says Mr Huberts.

Any vehicles parked inside the cordon will remain there until after the cordon is lifted at 6pm.

“Retailers are urged to make sure their workers are made aware of it.”
