‘Red Shed’ helps fund new library for school
MORE than a quarter of the funds needed for a new-look library at Cobham School have been raised with help from The Warehouse in Gisborne.

Cobham Principal Jane Portman says support from The Warehouse was helping to create what will be “an awesome hub” for the school next year.

“We are all very excited about the library development.

“The children’s involvement in the fundraising project is giving them a sense of ownership of what is going to become a valuable community asset.”

Store manager Trevor Smith said it was a “very great pleasure” to be in a positive partnership with the school and to support its fundraising goal of $20,000 for the new library upgrade.

The store recently donated $1234 from the sale of plastic bags at the checkout.

This amount has been added to funds already raised by sausage sizzles at the store which have been run by Cobham School staff and volunteers with help from the pupils.

Almost $6000 has been collected so far for the library spruce-up.

In 2011 The Warehouse raised a total of $3.2 million through fundraising and community support for New Zealand charities, said Mr Smith.
