Comet third at East Coast champs

SWIMMING

AN overall age group title to Haukopa Ehau-Taumaunu was the stand-out performance for Comet swimmers at the East Coast championships in Napier.

Haukopa won the 10 years boys’ age group while Ariana Aupouri Kaiwai broke her own 400 metres freestyle club record by six seconds in the 13 years girls’ division.

Only 30 points separated the top three clubs, with Greendale winning from Aquahawks and Comet.

Comet Swimmers to finish in the top three rankings in their age group were Jessikah Fearnley and Jade Swann (7yrs and under girls), Tamawheti Rangi (7yrs boys), Manaia Beach and Hinemana Lloyd (8yrs girls), Carew Fearnley (8yrs boys) and Kauri Waitoa (9yrs boys).
