Man is killed by a falling branch

A 71-year-old man has died in a tree- cutting accident on a property off the Waimoko Road, near Whangara, last night.
He is understood to have been killed when he was crushed by a large branch.
The fire service was called to the scene — about 9km into the Waimoko Road — at 4.45pm.
The man was dead when they arrived.
Police are yet to release the man’s name and further information on the accident was unavailable at the time of going to press.
