Morley, Bates in fine touch
A magnificent unbeaten 118 from Glenn Morley and a ton from Josh Bates (108) paved the way for Tatapouri Barbarians to beat Gisborne Boys’ High School in the final round-robin game of the Doleman Cup premier one-day cricket championship.

Tatapouri posted 302-3 then dismissed Boys’ High for 215, with Stu Spence — who scored 25 — taking three wickets for 30 runs.

Tatapouri’s opponents in the final, OBR, also won their last match, beating High School Old Boys.

Kieran Venema led the charge for OBR with a top knock of 69 and was well supported by Ian Loffler, Carl Shaw and Joe Loffler as OBM scored 284-9 off their 50 overs.

The Loffler brothers were also among the wickets, taking two apiece as HSOB were dismissed for 210.

Poverty Bay Cricket Association development officer David McDonald showed glimpses of his former Poverty Bay opening days with 36, while Tom Hayes hit 30.
